Tips and Tools

Thank you so much for creating a OneSmile Page! With the funds you raise, you’ll help children who are born with cleft lips or cleft palates get the surgery they need to fix their smiles! These Tips and Tools will help you to raise as much money as possible.

Tip 1: Create a OneSmile Page

If you already have a OneSmile Page, great! You can skip to the next tip. If you don’t have a Page, create one by clicking here. It’s free and easy to do!

Tip 2: Get to know your Participant Centre

Once you create a OneSmile Page, you have a Participant Centre. From there, you can:

Tip 3: Set a fundraising goal

On average, a surgery to fix a child’s cleft lip or palate costs $240. Why not set your fundraising goal to $500 and once you reach it, you can increase your goal to help even more children!

Tip 4: Personalize your OneSmile Page

Sharing your story will inspire and encourage your friends and family to help you reach your goal. Once you’ve logged in to your Participant Centre, go to the “My Webpage” tab. From there, you can add pictures and share why you’re raising money for Operation Smile.

Tip 5: Ask for donations

The only way that people can support you is if you tell them about your OneSmile Page and ask for their help. From your Participant Centre, you can send emails to ask friends and family members for donations. You can use our email template or write your own! You’re friends and family members will be thrilled to help you reach your goal and give children the gift of brand new smiles!

Bonus tip: Use the Address Book Import feature to easily import your contacts from your personal email address to your Participant Centre. Remember to add your personal story to the email templates so people know why you’re raising money for Operation Smile.

Tip 6: Thank your donors

Every time someone donates to your OneSmile Page, we’ll send them a general thank you email, but since they’re supporting you, remember to send your own thank you email. Or better yet, give them a call!

Tip 7: Track your progress

Visit your Participant Centre frequently and check in on your fundraising progress. It feels great to see those donations come in!
